I've used vasaline (petrolium jelly) brushed on the mold half. Use a stiff brush and try to get as thin a coat as you can when you get next to the item you're making a mold of. Thanks, Bruce Hirst

I use Rubber to Rubber mold release from Micromark. I've used it for a couple of molds and it works fine. It's a liquid and brushes on easy. It does sound like the release you have is no good.
